Terex History Terex is focused on its mission of delivering products that are reliable and cost effective and producing equipment that improves its customers' return on invested capital. Terex has expanded dramatically in recent years, primarily through a series of acquisitions and divestures designed to expand the product offering, improve geographic coverage and deliver value for Terex customers. Terex is building a franchise under the Terex brand name. As part of that effort, Terex is migrating the historic brand names for many of its products to the Terex brand, including in some cases using the historic brand name in conjunction with the Terex brand for a transitional period of time. Terex products are currently marketed principally under the Terex brand name and the following historic brand names, including in some cases the use of the Terex name in conjunction with these historic brand names: Advance, American, American Truck Company, Amida, ATC, Atlas, Bartell, Bendini, Benford, Bid-Well, Canica, Cedarapids, CMI, CMI-Cifali, CMI Johnson-Ross, Comedil, Demag, ELJay, Fermec, Finlay, Franna, Fuchs, Genie, Hi-Ranger, Jaques, Load King, Morrison, O&K, Pegson, Peiner, Powerscreen, PPM, Reedrill, Schaeff, Simplicity, Standard Havens, Tatra, Telelect, TerexLift and Unit Rig. 1995: Terex acquires PPM Cranes. 1996: Terex divests Clark Material Handling. 1997: Terex acquires Simon-RO and Telelect. BPI Handlers in Baraga, Michigan is also acquired this year. 1998: Terex grows their mining business with the acquisitions of Payhauler and O&K Mining. The crane offering also grows dramatically with the acquisitions of American Crane, TerexLift, Peiner and Gru Comedil. 1999: Terex builds a Light Construction business through the acquisitions of Amida, Benford and Bartell; and becomes a leader in the crushing and screening industry with the acquisitions of Cedarapids, Re-Tech, Powerscreen, BL Pegson and Finlay. Crane manufacturers added to Terex this year included Franna, Princeton and Kooi. 2000: Terex moves into the Compact Equipment category with the acquisitions of Fermec, a manufacturer of tractor loader backhoes. Coleman Engineering is also acquired, adding to the Light Construction business. The company divests Moffett, Princeton and Kooi. 2001: Terex continues to build the Roadbuilding business with the acquisitions of Jaques, CMI, Bid-Well and Load King. The Atlas acquisition is also completed this year. 2002: Several acquisitions help to position Terex as a leader in their respective categories. Demag fills out the Terex Cranes product offering and makes Terex a leading crane company. Genie is a leading manufacturer of Aerial Work Platforms. The acquisitions of German manufacturers Schaeff and Fuchs make Terex a powerhouse in the Compact Equipment category. Advance Mixer puts Terex in the concrete mixer business. Finally, the acquisitions of Pacific Utility and EPAC provide company-owned distribution for Terex Utilities. 2003: Terex acquires controlling interest in TATRA, manufacturer of on/off-road heavy-duty vehicles for commercial and military applications. The Company continued to expand its company-owned Terex Utilities distribution with the acquisition of Commercial Body and Combatel. 2004: Terex acquires Noble CE, now known as Terex Mexico, which manufactures high capacity surface mining trucks and fabricates components for other Terex businesses. Terex also acquires Reedrill, a manufacturer of surface drilling equipment for use in the mining, construction and utility industries.
